Top Healthcare PR Firms face new Competition from Mobile App

By Justine McGarrigle

The health tech industry is growing rapidly, leading many companies to turn to PR as a way of introducing their services to consumers. But getting your health tech product or service on the news is not easy.

Now there is a free publicity app that can help health tech companies identify the news narrative needed for coverage.

The Publicity App was created by the top health tech PR firm, Macias PR, which has run media campaigns for healthcare and health tech organizations. The firm has secured coverage for their healthcare clients with some of the biggest news outlets, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, CNN and others.

In 2015, Finance Monthly named Macias PR the “PR Consultant Firm of the Year – USA” based on the firm’s media placements, expertise and innovation in PR.

The founder, Mark Macias, was an Executive Producer with NBC in New York and Senior Producer with CBS in New York. He says the Publicity App contains the same strategy he used to get his clients on the news.

“The Publicity App doesn’t replace a publicist,” said Macias. “You still need to apply critical and creative thinking but for those small health tech startups, the Publicity App is a great first step.”

The Publicity App is the only PR app that outlines strategies for companies based on their type of publicity campaign they want. It helps users navigate through the six most popular types of media campaigns: startup publicity, credibility campaigns, crisis management, revenue generation campaigns, online/SEO campaigns and event promotion.

“Many healthcare professionals wrongly believe that who you know will get you in the news,” said Macias. “Yes, a contact helps but you can’t scale your media relationships. If you want media coverage, you first need to identify the narrative for coverage. That is where The Publicity App helps. It gives guidance for identifying the news angle.”
